Mariel Furlong
Founder & CEO
Mariel began her career as a journalist, spending 5 years at National Geographic magazine before transitioning to corporate strategy. She worked in management consulting focusing on business transformation, change management, and new product introduction for clients in Life Sciences, Media & Technology, Education, and Non-Profit sectors.
Mariel joined Google in 2015 and spent the next decade working across its Cloud, YouTube and Hardware divisions. Her roles there included corporate strategy, product marketing, and chief of staff. Drawing from her experiences across industries, functions, modalities (hardware, software, B2B, and B2C), Mariel launched Salamander Services, LLC in 2025.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. She is credentialed by the International Coaching Federation as an ACC, a milestone representing 2 years of coursework, supervision, and hundreds of coaching hours.
